The story
Seven days. Two doors between them. Strictly paperwork.
Every October in Kettle Hollow, the whole valley ruts at once. Locals call it the Turn. Placards go up on every door, and at five o'clock on the first, the county posts a list of where every omega is going to sit it out.
Leota Callison delivers the mail, so she's read every one of those doors for nine years. She's never once stayed to see what they mean. This year she does. She needs an address before the list goes up, and there's only one alpha in the valley she'd trust behind a shut door for seven days.
Garnet's known her since the fourth grade. He says yes before she finishes the sentence. Then they write the rules down, because neither of them knows what day three is going to be like.
Day three is worse than either of them guessed.
